Mark's lost my carry knife thread got me off my duff to take some pics of some of my favorites. The Case XX 61048 and 62048 being a pattern that I used to collect and that I still carry in my pocket. A few other favorites in the mix. If I get a vintage knife mint or nearly so I rarely will carry it. Here are a few of my favs.
That's a beautiful collection, Jimmy. Mine are less pretty. I carry a Strider PT pretty much everywhere, & very occasionally a Kershaw Wildcat Ridge. It's huge though, & weighs the same as a brick!
I've only ever carried two, and I like them both. They are quite different, and I like them for different reasons.
I have a Case Stockman that I think is a very elegant knife, and when I carry it, it is totally concealed. I also like that it has three blades that serve different functions and see different use. One is a "beater" blade that I use to open boxes and envelopes and such, one I use for grooming/first aid (like trimming cuticles and such), and the other I reserve for when I need something really sharp (aka I haven't used it yet).
I also have (on loan) a Spyderco Salt Tasman with the serated blade. I like it because it is easy to access (with it's pocket clip) and easy to open with one hand. It's also a very rugged blade, so I feel like I can cut anything with it. At first, I was quite skeptical about the curved blade, but I've come to quite like it for certain types of cutting.
+1 on all of this, I use mine the same way except for the addition of using the clip for cutting up dinner when a good steak knife is not avalable.Quote:

My dear hunting knife is a case trapper that gets carried one or two weeks a year. I get a kick out of the city folk that come around during the fall deer season with a big ole pig sticker dangleing from there belt. The old guy that taught me to gut a deer showed me how effective a good trapper pattern can be.

Just to say that the Case 61048, also known as the 'slim trapper', 'farmer's knife' and 'Dixie Switch' is light as a feather. The old high carbon models hone up razor sharp, quick and easy. They hold an edge and can be opened with the thumb and forefinger of one hand. I used to carry the little Buck 501 in the pic next to the red Rogers bone XX that I've been carrying for years but it is too hard to sharpen.
I like a lightweight knife that won't wear a hole in my pocket. I guess because I'm an old timer I prefer the more traditional look of the old pocket knives that some of the more high tech stuff that has become popular the last twenty years. OTOH, as the saying goes .... "It's all good" :)
Snaped a shot of the othe two I carry during the year. Like I said the med. stockman is my go to EDC but in the fall you might catch me with either of these in my pocket.

Bought this at a recent knife show. It's lovely and came amazingly sharp.
(Sorry don't have any of my own pictures of it yet) I love how it sits in my pocket though.

Love this thing. It's my first quality slipjoint other than a SAK (Swiss Army Knife). Gorgeous jigged bone scales and once I got it sharpened properly it stays sharp through anything.

Mammoth Bone with black mother of pearl, Titanium and Damascus.
It's about the same size as the Queen but it only gets used for dry and light tasks. I does get used however. I wouldn't dream of buying something that nice and then denying it any use.

This is quite the beast with Titanium, G10 and S30V steel all contoured, nice and grippy and everything. With assisted spring opening that makes a nice KLACK when it's opened.
