So, the fact that there is no absolutely objective source of news justifies shameless yellow journalism?
How about this:
BBC article on Haitian relief efforts "Cuba, which also felt the quake, has sent 30 doctors. Cuban field hospitals in Port-au-Prince were already treating hundreds of injured, according to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez."
FOX news article on Haitian Relief efforts:
"But one geographically close country is conspicuously absent from the roster of helping hands.
Cuba, which had evacuated some of its residents as a precaution in case the earthquake triggered a tsunami, has so far not offered any assistance publicly to its devastated island neighbor. Though the two countries have had warm ties since establishing relations 12 years ago after a 36-year break, the Cuban government Web site, along with Cuban news agencies, did not detail any offers of Cuban aid.
A representative from the Cuban diplomatic offices in the U.S. could not be reached for comment. "
BBC checks facts, FOX news spins it's inability to get facts as Cuba's cold, heartless communist lack of action.[/QUOTE]
The BBC? Could you please give me something by any of the anchors on NBC, CBC, ABS, CNN or MSNBC?
When I read about Haiti, I can legitimatley as "Who is helpng them?" If the US was offering no assistance, do you think the BBC would not have included that in their reporting? Of course they would. It's news and it is not a lie.
What is really being discussed here is if FOX is the ONLY yellow journalistic news outlet or the only one you don't like because they don't agree with your points of view?
Tell me something, do you think it would be better if FOX News was removed from the airwaves?
There are many freedoms we enjoy in this country that some people engage in and others don't. Some people agree with and others don't. Some people like and others don't.
I myself can stop reading and replying to this thread. It is an exercised freedom. Turn off FOX News. Don't ever watch it again. But you cross a line when you want it removed (I know you did not say remove it).
Also, I have said this many times. Leberals and conservatives trying to change each others minds is a fools errand. This thread can go on for years and neither one of us will budge. It's just a way to blow off steam and show each other how intellectually superior we are.:D
Everytime I think the world has gotten as strange as it can, it surprises the crap out of me. There seems to be no end to the depravity that is possible, whether economic, political, spiritual or any other category of human endeavor. And the nuts come from every direction.
You're kidding right?
Nope. If they're lying, and we have determined that they certainly do, they should have their license revoked. Corporations should not have the freedom to grossly mislead the public indiscriminate of their political agenda.
Ok, but it's going to be pretty lean on the news front. That means we need NBC, CBS, ABC, MSNBC, CNN, New York Times, Wahsington Post etc. all off the air and out of print.
You are really being disingenuous if you are saying FOX lies and has a political agenda and the others don't.
You need to separate lies and agenda, though. Yes I'm sure that all networks have an agenda but, IMHO, Fox has the most obvious one and while some mistakes are natural, theirs are so frequent that I have no issues with calling them liars.
I'm okay with news having an opinion. I'm not okay when the news lies about the facts just to support their opinion.
