You aint no orphan mate, I started in my late 30's, allways wore a hat so no difference really except my hats get a bit greasier !! I feel sorry for those blokes that need either rugs or transplant. Be that as it may thought, if I could take a pill and have it grow back I would, if only for the convenience of not getting scalp burn if I don't wear a hat. You can only look at yourself in the shaving mirror and have a wry chuckle !!

So true. When my hair started thinning you could have called me Pharaoh, because I was the King of Denial. Later, what I had actually looked better than it did when I was younger. Now it's in an awkward phase where ... well, suffice it to say I avoid mirror setups that let me glimpse the back of my head. Ah well, that's the beauty of beards and bushy codger eyebrows, what you don't have on top you can sport on yer mug.

Atm my hairline stays the same still. It's only getting thinner and greyer.
However, if it's going... so be it. I keep my hair trimmed to 1/4" anyways.

I will never ever get hair implants or a rug. I think they're silly.
There is nothing wrong with looking your age. My wife has the most beautiful hair. She is now getting a couple of bright white ones as well. Fortunately, both she and I think it looks great.

Personally, I think that if you get older, you should accept that your body changes. It's natural. Fighting against it only makes it look worse.

I believe it's linked to your maternal uncles? At least the main gene - the androgen receptor one.

But there are quite a few genes involved. Even if you lack the flawed androgen receptor, if you have all the other ones, you might still go bald.

As with a lot of things in genetic, it's not just a simple answer. Those little eye-color grids in biology are deceptively simplistic. :)

What if I don't have any maternal uncles?


I'm 30, still have a full head of hair, but I keep it trimmed with a 1-guard. I like the shape of my dome, so when baldness comes, I'll be ready.

Also, I just noticed my first grays this year. Doesn't really bother me... I guess it's just another sign that I'm not in my 20's anymore.

Might be true for me too. I'm 45, still have all my hair and haven't got even grey hair yet.
The day will come when i'm starting to get grey, and that is ok. Nothing wrong with showing my age. My wife, that sweet blonde, has gotten some white hairs already, and that makes her look even more beautiful.

My good friend who became bald at the age of 30 has the great way of taking things as they are: no more spending money on shampoo!

I started going bald in my mid-twenties, or thinning at least. By my late twenties most of the top was wispy, so I just shaved it off. I always expected to go bald - I never ate my bread crusts as a kid! :) I never really minded the process, although that first realisation that all was not as it should be up there lead to some wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I am now watching my younger brothers go bald - they are not really coping very well. In fact, one is doing a modern comb-over (he takes hair from both sides and pushes it up on top into a little spikey "mohawkey" thing). Some gentle brotherly advice ("you look like an idiot!") has hopefully eased his transition somewhat. My other brother is seriously considering plugs or that laser thingy that you see on infomercials. I have not had the opportunity to give him the benefit of my wisdom on the issue yet, but I am confident that, when the time comes, I will be equally effective with him as with my other brother (I am thinking of something along the lines of "nah nah nah nah nah nah ";"!!").

Luckily, my family is blessed with a noble crown, so losing our hair only adds to our beauty.

My hair isn't thinning, and I'm not going bald, but I shave my head anyway. Easier and more comfortable for me that way :)

Women love to rub a man's bald head ;) Just one of the perks haha!

This Man is ABSOLUTELY correct!

As a Hairdresser by profession I have access to a ton of women. They all won't tell you, but some will, that they are totally crazy hot for men with bald heads.
On the likes of Beethoven who went deaf, I began to loose hair at about 24. It sucked. I mean really, a balding Hairdresser. Well, I am a self admitted control freak, and in my nature I took control of my balding..... with clippers. Now, it's no mystery to anyone with eyeballs, that I'm younger than my hair. But it's the confidence a man exerts when he shaves his hair off upon the beginnings of male pattern balding that a lot of women get hot for. It says: "This guy's got Swagger."
