Winter boots

I currently have the Merrell Snowmotion 8 Zip Waterproof boots and these boots are falling apart. Merrell has offered to inspect them and replace them since they are defective.

However, I doubt these will make the cut for next year during winter. Maybe for shoveling the driveway.

So, my question is, do any of you have a boot you would recommend for winter work boots, preferably waterproof and keep your feet rather warm?

Baffin boots.

The best there is.


Casual. Steel toed. Hardcore expedition. Anything you will need to keep your feet warm.

Danner boots. Many styles still made in the USA, and they can be refurbished when you've put some hard miles on them.

I've worn a version of the Danner Ft. Lewis boot almost every day for 15 years; (uninsulated in the summer) from Alaska to Maine. Fit like a Bedroom Slipper, Gore-Tex waterproofing, and Thinsulate lined. As long as your work doesn't require sitting still in sub zero temps you should be good. They're kind of spendy, but last quite a while and can be resoled. I'm sure you'll get many different suggestions, but these have never let me down in some pretty tough environments.

I've been looking for winter boots myself. I haven't purchased any yet, but White's Boots look like a possibility. Not cheap, but made in the U.S...

Those Merrell boots appear puny in comparison to the boots recommended so far. I really like the reinforced toes with insulation.

I don't know what kind of work you do but the Army issued me a pair of 1300 gram Thinsulate LaCrosse boots and they are very comfortable and very warm. I put the Snow Seal on them for extra water protection.

My heavy winter boots are Crispi, with Vibram sole, and goretex. I have had them for 8 years and still going.

I have Mickey Mouse boots. Not the white, those are ugly imo. Mine are the black ones. And they have the valves. Rated to... -20F iirc...

LaCrosse Ice Kings are what keep my feet toasty warm while ice fishing or snowmobiling in subzero temperatures. Good merino wool socks make a huge difference as well.
