It seems that hat etiquette in the US is virtually extinct. I was taught that it was impolite to wear a hat indoors - never mind while eating. Many people still wear hats while sitting in restaurants - even people that I know to otherwise be polite and courteous. :( What to do?

NEVER wear a hat indoors.
In my cousins youth(around the age of 12-15) wore his cap down over his face so that no one could see him and so that he didn't have to look at people. You could really see the development problems kicking in. It was very apparent to me. If he were my kid I surely wouldn't allow this behaviour. I wonder what else he got away with.
