This site is going to make me file bankruptcy

I joined this fine community In March of this year with the sole interest in learning to shave with a straight. Since that first day, i have expanded my interest into not only straight razor shaving but also jewelry making for the creation of metal scales and pinning, soap making for the creation of my own shave soaps, woodworking (which i already love) for the creation of wood scales and razor shelves and cabinets, and other numerous interests.

Now i have some basic wood working instruments to begin with, but now i am going to have to purchase more woodworking tools, a double boiler (for soap making), a vibratory machine (well we all know what they are used for), various metal polishes, various grits and types of sand paper, I would really love a kiln for making my own shaving bowls and scuttles, and a small furnace for making metal scales. There are other wants but i dont have the time to list them all.

Now that i have a desire for all this, i dont have a room to store and use all these toys. Now this site is going to cost me about $150,000 for a new house with a garage a.k.a. man cave. I may go broke but atleast i will have plenty of thing to do while i am in the poor house.

Thanks for all the expanded interests.

BTW Commiecat, if i do achieve all this before i die, you are more than welcome to come over and use anything you wish. :)

Ya I was thinking of starting a broke straight shaving club, but then I realized Lynn already started it and called it SRP.

(and those are just the purchases she knows about:))

No i do not have hones yet. I am lucky enough to live in the same town as fellow straight user and SRP member Commiecat. He is my honing guru and the one that i bounce off most of my ideas on. Thats why he has unlimited use of anything that he may need that i own or will own.

I love how, at this early stage, you think you only need one of everything. Wait until the various ADs kick in. Sometimes it helps to have no money.

Let me just con the wife into getting one of everything first. Then i can start telling her that the first one broke and really do need to replace it. That is how you do things with a very practical wife. :nono:

I already had her say to me "I thought this was going to be cheaper"? I guess she is ok with it since I when I walk past a Coach store I start to shake.:cry:

SWMBO just lowered the hammer on me. There will be NO new shaving equipment of any kind coming into my houshold for an indefinite period of time. Period!

This is the "professional" help my RAD and I have been needing:)

It starts with one.

And then I said "How about I buy a cheap ebay razor to clean up and practice restoring on"

And after 4 months, that 'extra' turned into a dozen. Plus a few hones.. Plus a newer fancier strop (BTW the guides are spot on when they say don't fall in love with your first strop. I destroyed my first)

I really, really never expected this to be my favorite hobby. I thought it was just a cooler, better way to shave.

Haha.. mine said the same thing.. until I just unloaded some of my stuff on ebay ( mainly old safety razors ) and can now say I have broke even on my razors at least ( I don't count soaps, creams, AS, or hones :p )

Of course it was disposable.. until she wanted to use it and it wasn't there:mace:

Luckily I have 10 razors in need of rescaling and 1 razor I am grinding myself so now I just need to find the time to work on those so I can either use them or sell them and get more to play with.
