Tall Ships......
Yesterday I visited Duluth Minnesota. There was a collection of 9 old time sailing ships in port so I took a bunch of pics ( 111 of them!). I have been fascinated by these old sailing ships since I was in grade school.
Enjoy...... ( hit the "slideshow" button)

great pics thanks for sharing them

Thanks for sharing those with us. I have always had a love affair with sailing ships. The ultimate freedom for me has always been sailing with the sound of the wind and no motor blaring in your ears.

I saw the HMS Rose come in to the Port of Duluth many years ago - quite a sight.

Cool stuff Randy. Thanks!
I wanted to get up there to see them, unfortunately I had to go to Milwaukee over the weekend.

Hey Randy, thanks for the treat, I think it would be great to go on one these, until I turned green and threw up!

Thanks very much for sharing those. Beautiful ships!

There is an elegance of those old vessels that reminds me so much of a blue marlin...

Another fan of the tall ships here. I live close to Gloucester in the UK and one of the very few shipyards that specialise in repairs to tall ships and wooden vessels in general, Tommy Neilson's, is based in Gloucester docks. There is often something to see in the docks or Tommy's dry dock.
Here are a few I've seen recently, the first taken from my narrowboat on the Gloucester Sharpness canal and my favourite! The Matthew out of Bristol.

In the Gloucester docks a year or so ago. The Matthew is in the foreground and the ship on on the right, the Earl of Pembroke was Horatio Hornblower's ship in the BBC series! I think the middle one is the Kaskalot which is the largest wooden vessel still sailing apparently.

Now here's an interesting flag for you Americans! They were filming a dockside scene for the 2006 film Amazing Grace about William Wilberforce who spent his life stopping the transatlantic slave trade.
So where did that flag come from?
