i have made the joke to friends and family alike, that cabela's and a casino are almost the same to me. i could go to either one of them and come home broke. the major difference is if i go to cabela's, im coming home with a grand worth of stuff, the casino im coming home broke, and maybe deeper in the hole. what about the rest of the group

Cabela's as well as Bass Pro are overpriced IMO. I dont go to either them or the casino.
I don't go to casinos.
you only live once go to both. limit what you spend or just go and look. the buffets at casino`s are great.:beer2:
i know i know, but think of all the great stuff you can get a cabela's all the casinos do is make one broke. thats my point
well you can`t take it with you. but i do buy a lot of huntin gear from calela`s. still have camo and duck decoys from many years ago i bought there. i see your point. the first vist to a casino was when my sister passed away from ovarian cancer. she told her husband to take the whole family to hollwood casino in indiana after she passed. she told him we all had to play the penny machine`s first before we played other games. we all did all 14 of us. my other sister one 375.00 on my deceased sisters favorate machine. i do miss my sister. :(
I've been purchasing from Cabela's for close to 40 years. 'Nuff said.
in vegas there is a bass pro connected to a casino, the silverton. the worst thing about that place is it is one of hte best buffets in vagas lol
I've never been inside Cabela's store but I used to love the catalogue until it became more of a clothing shop than sporting goods, just like LL Bean. And with my luck, I wouldn't dare step inside a casino. My wife wanted to go to Las Vegas. I told her she could spend her time in the casino, I'd wander through the desert taking pictures.
I am not great at math, but I am good enough at it to not see the point in gambling.
I like browsing Cabelas. The store is fantastic for wandering around. I usually make my purchases online from other retailers though.
I know that wasn't the point of the OP, but it's my two cents... :)
I live in Connecticut and within easy driving distance to both the indian casinos and the Cabela's store in East Hartford. I don't have a problem in either one. The casinos both have a lot of attractions other than gambling (oops, that's a dirty word- they call it "gaming"). Anyway, I like the restaurants and shops. The first time I put down a twenty dollar chip on a roulette wheel and 2 seconds later the croupier swept it away, my gambling problem was cured. I'm a pretty quick study so I caught on to that right away- you put money down, they sweep it away. The Cabela's store is absolutely nebulous. I saw the comment that they only sell clothes anymore, but that's not my experience. I've never been to any of the other locations, but the store in CT is almost like a sportsman's amusement park. It's full of sights, sounds, smells, and tastes. It includes museum quality animal displays, enormous aquariums, in house restaurants, food samples, trophy animals such a mountain goats, bears, etc in recreations of their natural habitats, on and on. I know that sounds like a commercial for Cabela's but I could just spend all day in there. Any PETA types would not like it much, however.
If you venue into a Cabelas be sure to have an Elk sandwich ! Very tasty.
