I mailed razors, they didn't arrive, now what?

Retailers cover themselves by offering standard shipping which may not cover insurance and will usually have their policies upfront so you know what will happen if the item doesn't arrive and give you the choice to user express service and insurance. Of course it's more difficult with us since we don't have web sites and professionally done order centers but the responsibility to see to it the item arrives safely is still the sellers. Unless the buyer declines recommendations for shipping which then throws the ball in his court that responsibility is the sellers.

Ron I am pretty mellow about the whole event . I really find it funny that it seams the god's really don't want me to have those razors sharp, or they just want to see me jump threw some hoops... seeing as I had them honed twice with no success then sent to a professional and the mail lost it, what can you do but laugh? :roflmao lets wait 21 days and see, maybe it will come, if not then we will deal with the situation. main thing is we both learned a lesson and nothing of any great imoortants was lost... no need to stress.

I would give it at least 30 days. I was waiting on a Priority package from a soap maker in Utah. I was testing some products for her. She sent them "Priority" After ten days, I still didn't have them...I noticed the Mailman delivering was not the "normal" guy. Fast forward to 14 days later..One of my neighbors comes to my door with my package. The Letter Carrier put it in the wrong box...(We have cluster boxes in my neighborhood)
My neighbor was out of town, that's why it took so long...

I work for the US Postal Service and ship packages internationally, a lot...

Shipsurance - Shipping Insurance and Cargo Insurance Coverage They cover your loss on packages door to door for 1.00 per 100.00 of value...Postal insurance ends at the border...

If you use a flat rate priority box, Tape the hell out of it..The boxes aren't that great. Don't forget, The Gov't buys stuff from the lowest bidder..

Whatever you ship, include a name and address inside the box taped to the item. If the package gets destroyed, (I've seen this many times) They have somewhere to send the contents. There are people that actually try to piece together damaged/destroyed mail.

Delvery Conf is only .70 , well worth it, each and every time. At least you can track it...
9x out of 10, it's the letter carrier that delivers it wrong...Mail does not get lost easily, believe me, People search the building where your mail/packages are processed nightly.

Protect the item inside, it's a possibility it could wind up at the bottom of hundreds of other packages...

This is all I can think of now...The Post Office is going through a lot right now, big time financial trouble, people losing their jobs of 30+ years, and being sent elsewhere to work, they call it "Excessing".

Utopian: You did your job, You mailed it. Do you have the receipt?
It's up to you how you want to handle the situation, but I don't see it as your fault. If your in the position to help, and can, well that's up to you.
But you are no way responsible..No offense to the member who's items they are...Maybe you guys can do a 50/50 thing...

P.S. I read the other posts, and I'm unclear as to how this is Utopian's loss. or why he should have to compensate? If he has proof that he shipped it, Is it his fault they didn't show up? I'm playing devil's advocate here, not starting a big argument...

Zib - I was recently told that insurance is basically useless unless you combine it with delivery confirmation....something about not being able to prove that it DIDN'T arrive. Any truth to this?

Not true. You do not need to get Delv Conf..The insurance forms at the Post Office have tracking numbers on them. The Post Office can track them internally and see what's up, you (the customer) cannot from the website, IIRC, The receipient has to sign for insured mail...?

However: I would get Delv.Conf. anyway, at least you can check on it...

Also, Delivery Confirmation can just be dropped at your mailbox, or at your door. No one has to sign for it..

Signature confirmation does require just that, A signature..That service is good if your sending something to a company, where lot's of people work, and you want to know who signed for it...I had a problem with Dish network. They claimed they never got their gear back, and charged my CC 500.00. I had signature confirmation, Told them who signed, and go my money back....

Many years ago I sent a package to a guy that didn't want to pay for tracking or anything extra... It happened to be an over seas shipment. I was sorry he didn't receive it. I think I offered insurance and expedited shipping so I wasn't going to send a replacement or refund.

He wrote me much later to let me know he received the package. It took like 12 weeks. It was on a slow boat or something.

After that I was continental US only! :) I guess it's not quite as bad anymore.

If you get payed for a service its your full responsebility to deliver to the customer unless he opts out.
You can not keep the customert responsible for shipping unless
'1: he was fully informed
2:hes a proffessional

It may not match the moral responsebility but it is the legal one...

WOO HOOOOO THEY FINALLY ARRIVED!! :y I have been talking about it with my mail lady for a while and she checked in spent some time digging the other day and brought it to me this morning!! Ron, they look amazing!! I can't wait to shave with them!
