YEAH...what JimmyHad said !;)
this is messed up..... i am not going to let his giant cat into my house.. i don't care how starving he is.. i will feed him when i see fit..
however.. what really freaks me out is how i decided to take a photo of him and i get locked out.. and then i leave the door open to avoid the whole thing and he pretends to sleep..
this cat seriously looked at me and once he saw the camera.. he turned around and started to fake snore... he was putting on an act...
what kind of cat does that?
Mine !! No lyin !
look...the two are unrelated.I knew sooner or later you were gonna try and associate the two ,but it is not so .The cat is just being a cat large small or indifferent. The spirit is simply using the situation to play a HARMLESS prank on you,and you are letting them both get the best of you. Get it? You are being too easily riled by this.Seriously..look at it for what it is.
thank you.. the thing that upsets me is i was locked out of the house... it's seriously about 55 degrees outside and i should not have been locked out.. the spirit has been cool for awhile.. but this was freaky.. it was cold outside and i got locked out.. .a harmless prank? it was cold out..
is this spirit trying to hurt me?
i have spoken to it.. this was uncalled for.
I'm gonna PM you ok,gimme a minute...talk to you soon.
Those sliding glass doors are notorious for locking people out. Never shut it hard. I know lots of people that always leave them partially open when they go out for a smoke or whatever.
Oh, and FWIW, I'm still voting for shooting the cat. ;)

PROBLEM SOLVED!!!
Hehehehe.
Victor, may God have mercy on your soul
:(
he's adopted me.
He looks harmless enough :)
He's a fine-looking fellow. In my experience, the ones that find you turn out to be the best companions. Enjoy his company.
The pic reminds me of a cat I adopted as a kid, big, black and a nasty temperment. He had a huge head to match an already large body. I saw him take on the neighbors German Shepherd once, that dog didnt know what got him. He lived a long time, would be missing for days, sometimes weeks would go by and he would just show up, sometimes close to dead from the wounds. Despite the fact that he was a cat, sometimes I miss him, he could be your best friend.... usually just before he bit you and ran like hell. His name was Devil and he took it to heart.
he's turned out to be very loving.. and i want to scoop him up and let him be a part of the family.. but three cats? i'm digging my own grave..
problem is... i don't know if i have a choice in the matter..
Sounds like he chose you my friend...now its up to you if you choose him back. Everything happens for a reason :)
Oh yeah !....I'm liking him.....alot !! Kitteeee !!!:D:D:D:D
Don't you dare let him be homeless :angel::angel:
Did you check for neighbors though ??????
i asked the 3 neighbours around my house and they don't claim him.. he stayed the entire day on the patio and it was good weather.. so i'm thinking he may have belonged to the people who lived here before.. we just moved in at the end of december..
i'll take him to the vet on monday.
I am proud of you.You are doing a very right thing Vic.As for the Jerks who left him behind......Karma!!
My Zues was abandoned by a tenant who lived in my building about ten years ago.I took him in by request of the landlord. He hadn't been fixed and hadn't sprayed the whole two weeks I had him. He's been with me ever since and I couldn't imagine the world without him. He's fixed now by the way.;)
i'm not sure how to tell if he's fixed or not.. he seem very nice and calm.. and super friendly with the other cats.. i havn't let him inside.. but they sniff eachother through the glass..
i was resistant about adopting him.. but i really don't have it in my heart to leave him out to fend for himself.. i've spent a few nights out in the cold and i wouldn't allow that for anyone if i can help it..
the girl just rolls her eyes cause she knows there is no telling me what to do when it comes to animals.
The Vet will be able to tell you if he's fixed. However the obvious answer to look and see if he's intact which should be visible. You are doing the right thing.I'm rootin for ya.You should put a kitty kennel on the porch for him with a towel liner for warmth and a big bowl of fresh water in the meantime so he has a place to go till he gets all checked out.plus that will get him used to the kennel for transport.;)
there are already two cat transports outside for my other cats.. and i'm hesitant to leave anything out.. i have seen giant racoons and other wildlife right outside our patio on the weeping willow...
and there are canals everywhere around our house.. if he wants a drink all he has to do is run about 20 feet to a nice little pond.
for now i'm only bringing out food when he is there and i'm making sure he finishes it or i bring it back inside and throw it away..
i had a look under his stomach and spotted some boys.. but i don't know if the size matters or not when telling if he is fixed...
i'll just have to wait for what the vet says.
In this case size don't mattuh.if there there, they are there. As for the carriers,at least make a towel bed for him.The coons aren't going to sleep in it.I grew up in the sticks of Northern Michigan and know a thing or two as well bout coons.Just a towel bed so if the temp gets cold he has something. As for the water the coons won't care about that. It's food they want.:gaah:
ok.. i put a towel in one of the carriers and left a bowel of water in there for him.. i won't leave food out.. but i'll keep an eye out for him and when i see him i'll bring out the food.. he took off earlier tonight and i'm sure he'll be back.. maybe he's down having a pint at the local panther club.
here he is next to my girl kitten. she is very small.. but his head is atleast 4 times the size.
If he hasn't been fixed he will mark territory in or out of the house. He may do that anyway if he was fixed later in life. IME introducing another cat into the mix may require a long period of adjustment for the cats involved. They are so territorial. Over time they will begin to tolerate each other and given more time may even learn to get along and be pals. :gl:
he hasn't marked anything as far as i can see.. the patio smells just fine.. he has taken to one of our patio chairs and i've gone ahead and given it a good whiff.. he doesn't spray..
the thing i've noticed is that he feels very comfortable around our apartment and has even strolled a few feet inside when i left the door open more than a few seconds..
i have a strong feeling that he belonged to the prior tenents and they left him.. he is very loving to me and even "plays" with my other two cats through the sliding glass door..
i'm thinking that this is his home and he is simply being accepting of me as a new guest in his home.
i hate to be a softy.. but he has my heart.. i won't let him go uncared for.
With out knowing the full story, don't knock the previous owners too hard. They might have relocated him locally (or reasonably locally) and he's decided he's not up for that and headed back to your place, or any other number of events that could have been out of the cats best interests and he ran away.
In any case, it doesn't much sound like he's leaving, some owners don't see their cats as much as you see this guy!
Our best cats when I was a kid were the strays that came to our house and announced they were moving in. We usually had 3 cats at a time, with very low turnover. My first cat as an adult was a 3-year old stray in St. Louis who had been left behind when tenants moved out. It took a while to get him to trust me, but he'd come to my kitchen door every evening and let me clean up the fight wounds on his ears. I named him Nick, for Hemingway's Nick Adams.
He was a brawler, with a neck like a linebacker: shoulders attached directly to head. Testicles that would have fueled a midsized dog. He traded those in for a soft warm place and regular meals. We shared days for about 10 years, and he aged into a Jimmy Carter character--gracious, peaceable, a modest user of his authority. Nick had an unusually large vocabulary for a cat, and I miss our conversations.
Nick shared his life with Esme (named from Salinger), whom I also adopted in St. Louis, Alan Greenspan, whom I rescued from a bad home, Vip the crazy Vizsla puppy, and, after they moved in, my wife and her cats. One of her cats is a natural dominant, but he never fazed or ever really challenged Nick. Nick's authority was so natural that he felt no need to defend it.
I predict that your young cats will naturally bow to this big guy's status. If either of them is male, get him neutered before he gets any political ambitions and there won't be any challenges. Your big guy, with all he's experienced, will probably float above it all like Nick did.
Enjoy the family that is accreting around you. Best wishes to all.
Nice looking dessert in that other post, too!
....want to bet....
Hunt an inexpensive UV light. I have seen
some UV-LED lights that will do.
With a ultra violet light you will see it long before you can smell it.
Some of the enzyme based urine eliminators that can
be found in pet stores work very well. Check them out.
i have a bunch of that enzyme killing stuff.. i have yet to use it.. none of the cat's have sprayed anything.
Those enzyme solutions are great, and so are the UV lights. I've seen small fluorescent tube ones, or I've got an LED-based one. It's true, they're great help in locating troubled spots. My best wish for you is that you never need one, but yeah, that was a great suggestion Niftyshaving.
yeah.. well.. no one is spraying.. i don't feel the need for any uv lights.. the cats get along just fine through the screendoor.. there is no hissing and everything is very peaceful.. i'd go so far as to let him inside the house.. however.. i have yet to take him to the vet..
Feral cats number in the tens of millions and have become a blight. Feeding them doesn't stop them from decimating local bird populations, even endangered ones. The best thing you can do for him is find him an adoptive home. Maybe that's your own, maybe it's not. If that's not possible, catch him and have him neutered.
Everyone, spay and neuter your cats and keep them indoors. It's better for them and the environment.
