Its not windows 7 Professional that needs to support the programs. Because you would effectively be running XP in Windows 7 and you run your programs in XP.Quote:

its like dual booting your comp but easier. When you install the XP compatibility mode into win 7 pro, it actually installs a version of XP as part of Windows 7, so when you run the XP compatibility mode you are actually running XP, as if switching on a laptop with XP as its OS.
Its a really clumsy way of doing it but, thats the way Microsoft do it. they couldn't create a software fix for compatibility mode so the only other way to do it was to actually run XP which gives guaranteed compatibility.
