Poll: What do you drive?

'05 Land Rover LR3 HSE7, automatic, gas guzzling luxury beast that will climb a tree and ford small rivers all while carrying my family of 5 and a couple friends. Tony, didn't know you were a Roverhead :) Sure wish they'd bring the Defender back over here..
My commuter is an '03 VW Jetta TDI, stick. Little 1.9l turbo diesel, mid 40's in summer with the A/C on, high 40's in the winter (MPG).

I can see a pattern arising with these cars...

You are either:
A rev head and like shiny things
A conservationist and are into all things sustainable
An old fart that doesn't like change

(You may... like myself.... fit into one or more categories :) )

Actually the motorcycles/non-drivers were just a masking measure for my own purpose. All I wanted to do was find out whether a significantly higher percentage of driving straight-shavers drove cars with standard transmission compared to the general population.

I am a rev-head but I don't like shiny things. What matters to me is performance, which includes the handling. My ideal car is a sleeper but with 300 ponies and about the same number of ft-lbs pumped out by a bi-turbo rig, mated to an all-wheel drive, fully adjustable coilover suspension, a beefed up all-wheel disk brake setup (no ABS please) and looking just like any other normal VW Golf lol.
I don't like showing off but I like going fast, especially if it involves a lot of high-speed cornering. Maybe I should have become a pilot :D

I started selling cars in 1984. My boss told me that within 6 months, I would not care what I was driving, as long as there was gas in the tank. Well, I have found that to be true. I've driven Corvettes, Vipers, even a Lotus. And my '95 Honda Accord gets me everywhere I need to go. No, it ain't pretty. But every morning, it starts. And to me, that's all that matters.

Another reason why I drive stick is because it gives me something to do while driving. In most cases the speed limits are too low and/or I have to coast behind 2 cars going side by side (in one case, a guy was going right alongside a manure truck :eek: ) so shifting gears prevents me from going insane with boredom. It's also easier on fuel, which is more expensive north of the border, especially since Katrina. They are gouging the prices and the government isn't stepping in. I may just swith to a Diesel and make my own B100.
