I like the hands free advantage of bluetooth headsets, so I'm one of those freaks who George Carlin ragged about, with a bluetooth headset attached to my noggin. It occurred to me that radiation from the device might be a health issue and I went to google.
Came up with this website here, which claims that the health effects are indeed precarious, and offers a solution for $$. I think this is a scam but who knows ?
Ceramic buttons? Well that's what they look like to me, I can't see how sticking a lump of fired clay on yer phone will help, it looks like it would block the incoming signal if anything, maybe that's it! block the signal altogether, problem solved!
It is true that there is radiation being directed to your head when you make a call, there is no research to show that it actually causes harm. the wavelength for the rf in these devices is relatively long which means lower energy so maybe less/lower probability of harm. The government are being lobbied to include radiation output for mobile phones. Until these reviews are out I wouldn't buy anything.

Yeah well @ 63 years of age, and my very first cell phone, I'm not going to worry too much about it. Figuring that something will 'get me' before my bluetooth headset does. One thing I can warn folks about, based on my experience, take the headset off of your ear before you lather ...... PITA to wipe off.
BTW, Carl ...... Wearing my moderator hat now ..... I had the same sig line from sending messages using Tapatalk. Sig lines, even that one, are not allowed on SRP. Please go into your Tapatalk settings and disable the sig feature. I had to do that with mine. Kind of a bummer because I thought it looked cool. Oh well .... rules is rules. :aargh:
I agree about the headset being unlikely to cause harm, everything I read on at university says there is a risk but it would be small.

In one of the testimonials on the site someone mentions having a hot ear from prolonged phone use. This was the main reason I switched to a "tablet" style cell phone, no more phone/bluetooth near my head, speakerphone only.
Im now worried about having a tablet on my lap all the time while reading, ect.. It cannot be good for reproductive/other organs.
I cant see it being a scam. IMO an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, that being said they arent getting any of my $$$.

Cell phones are a radiation source. So is radio for that matter. Or wireless internet. Or the various other things we use on a daily basis.
And even if there is something to it: considering your age :D and your other bad habits and your past ... I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Bluetooth devices are much lower power than phones so bluetooth is "better"
than a phone along side your ear. If you are on the road and talk a lot an over
one ear wired head set is better still (truck driver, salesman on the road).
A bluetooth device in the car itself or on the sun visor is very handy.
The largest risk is the distraction the durn things give drivers.

Unless you put a grounded metal shield between the transmitter and your body you aren't going to stop radio waves. How are you going to stay grounded while you are walking around?
On the flip side, bluetooth devices are always transmitting, even if there is no phone conversation. So long term the EMF dosage might be higher.Quote:
