Going to need glasses

The other day I was in a optician with my wife because she needs new glasses, she usually wears contacts but has a pair of glasses for when she's tired.

So I was wondering about the eye testing and how they do it. And when I asked the woman in the store she replied: "Would you like to try it?" So we did and it turns out I have cylindrical eyes....just like my dad has only less severe. Which means that in the distance I can see less sharp and my eyes are constantly adjusting and never relaxing. So today I'm going to go out and find some glasses...weird, I never knew about it.

Just think of it as an opportunity to pimp yourself up. Even though I have an amazing eye-sight (to make up for my bad hearing/sense of smell lol) I've ben considering getting a nice frame and non-prescription lenses just for the look.

Meh, nothing wrong with glasses, especially when you can get some sweet shades too :)

I should probably go for an eye test some time too; just to make sure everything is alright. I don't think I've ever been to an optrician, but I have done the simple eye tests by doctors. Last time I had it was a while ago, but apparently I had slightly better than 20/20 vision. Though, I wouldn't be surprised if it's dropped off some since.

My uncle has some horrible vision. I put on his glasses and the world is completely warped, yet for him, he sees clear as day through them :shrug:

I have needed glasses since I was 13. I have hated them for years but contacts are not as bad. Especially the disposable ones.

As I work with computers, I get a full free eye test every year, which is good as i need glasses for reading. A few months ago they kitted me out with a nice pair of varifocals which allow me to look at close up paperwork and the computer screen at the same time. I was told they were almost £200 worth!

I'd reccomend a regular eye test as it can spot several other things like diabetes as well as other serious eye problems which are easier to fix early on.

I first found my eyesight wasn't as good close up as it used to be when standing at the urinals in the office and found I couldn't quite focus on the wall in front of me! Strange way to find out I was getting old. (The hair went years ago!)

Funnily enough, I discovered that I needed glasses just before I took the bar exam, which was two years ago in July. I suddenly noticed that I was having trouble reading road signs at a distance - pretty dangerous when you're doing a lot of driving to places you've never been before. I went for an eye exam, and they gave me a fairly light prescription - world of difference, though.

Gareth brings up a good point about getting an annual eye exam. I used to get one every couple of years, but I do have diabetes and now see an opthamologist (sp?) every year. My internist said to specifically see an opthamologist vs. any other eye doctor. My vision is 15/20, but my eyes tire and I still use low powered "cheaters" for reading.

Ok, so I got my glasses today....it's going to take some getting used to. I'll tell you though. My vision (once I've gotten used to it) is a lot clearer. Things around me that I never knew I was seeing differently of vaguely I'm now seeing clearly (some of the time).

I'm a bit disoriented for now with them though. Having never worn glasses both my eyes and my sense of balance needs to adjust. I think I'll be happy with it though.

Be careful around stairs!

Cool frames. I have ones very similar. My only problem is when I put them down they are hard to find later.:D

I actually had that problem this morning. Thing about them is they're not really frames are they? Just glasses with little holes drilled into them so that the legs and little nose bridge can be attatched.

I'm starting to get used to them though. After a few hours of wearing them yesterday I was having a sort of motion sickness but that's getting less and less all the time.

You've got to learn to always set your glassed down in the same place! That way you will always know where they are.

true!! I couldn't do that!!! My wife would expect me to be organized on everything!~!!!

I needed glasses as a school boy. I hated them because my parents made me wear an outdated fake tortoise frame which made me the laughing stock of the school. As soon as I went to university I ditched them. Somehow my short sightedness has diminished and now I only wear glasses when I am tired an when I drive at night or have to watch text projected on a screen during lectures etc.

I actually don't wear glasse while shaven. I can see pretty well without (afterall I've not worn any in 26 years now and never noticed I could use them) but I prefer wearing them. Things look sharper and I've come ti find out there were lots of little details in the world that I'd never seen...individual sparkles on water, little sticks on trees (I used to only see a glow on water and big branches on trees) etcetera.

So I'm quite happy living in an age where glasses are so readily available.

ya glasses can look awesome. My wife has perfect vision, but sometimes I make her try on glasses in the stores just cause she looks really hot lol.

No my wife looks is actually really hot, very tall exotic looking blonde, but glasses just give her the whole sexy student look....oh dont even get me started lol:fim:
