I run Nortons from Symantec. Never had a problem yet.

Hi Bill,
I've used Norton internet security with success. It's got antivirus, antispam and a firewall. Don't know what it costs in US, but reasonably priced here in Aus. It's pretty user friendly and intuitive. The only downside I've found is that it can be slow to load.
James.
I swear by PC-Cillian by Trend Micro. I think its among the best out there. It doesn't slow the computer down like some others and it is always very highly rated by consumer and computer review magazines. I've tried Mcafee and Norton and like this one the best, hands down.
I use AVG free from http://www.grisoft.com its at the bottom of the products page. It is easy to use updates itself and doesn't cost anything. Its free because they give you the home version hoping you will upgrade or buy the business version. So far it works great for me.
Bill, I own a computer business and we use AVG Free when the client doesn't want to spend any money - it works great!! www.grisoft.com

Bill,
AVGFree has worked well for me in the past. However, with Comcast you are entitled to a free install of McAfee, which I also like, as long as you ONLY install the anti-virus (which is all that comcast offers; McAfee hopes you will then pay for the other junk they sell). My experience with both McAfee and Norton is that if you buy JUST the anti-virus they are good programs, but when you buy the whole "system control kit" or whatever they call it, it monkeys with your computer. Being a bit of a gaming freak, and wanting to make sure I get every ounce of performance out of my comp that I can, these types of things bother me :P
PC-Cillin and F-Secure are also good choices.
We've done hundreds/thousands? of virus repairs in the last 3+ years and we've seen the effects of most AV programs. We used to use Norton but dropped it after it became a performance hog. We now sell PC-Cillin. So . . . .
If you want free - use AVG-Free
If you want to buy - get PC-Cillin from Trend Micro
I use the AVG Free at home and have never had a problem
AVG/Grisoft now also have anti-spam
