Oh man, I'm right there with you. Marlow Gaél is almost 11 months now and is starting to communicate. We're sure it's mostly English coming out of his mouth, but he hears Spanish too and we sign to him. He's starting to sign back. Personality? He's got that in spades, but he's bipolar or something. He ranges from jubilant to tyrannical, so more communication skills are eagerly awaited.

We taught our oldest basic sign language for the moment she could wave her hand, and she really got into it. She could communicate her basic needs before she was 1 year old. The transition to speech came at 18 months, and she spoke in full sentences before her second birthday.
Before her third she had mastered past, present and future tense, left / right, the colors of the rainbow, counting to 20, days of the week, ...
Sign language gave her a head start.
My youngest learned a couple of signs, but she didn't really take after her sister.
She understands spoken language well enough, but she doesn't bother trying to say words unless she really wants something.
I think sign language is great for kids, and it is a good way for kids to express themselves before they master speech.
For some reason a lot of people our age (and their parents) seemed really opposed to the idea (and don't do it because 'it's weird') despite remarking about the sign communication skills of our oldest when she was a year.
It's amazing what toddlers can already conciously tell you if you give them a means to communicate.

Last Year in October
Moments before making work impossible and an action shot. I'm only in it for the scotch.
I just discovered this thread, so I thought I would post a funny picture of me. :D
I was just being silly....I was pretending to know karate or something!
Great pic xman! our older one my friend tried teaching some sign, she learning food and more and stopped. she's an incredible talker now. the little one is much more quiet, she makes sounds now, sometimes she'll be in her crib just chattering away, but not nearly as loud and vocal as her sister was. probably due to the more mello personality.

Better. ";"
lol that's what everyone says. I kinda think I look 12 years old now, maybe I'll grow the beard back out a bit...
My god .. that's like the transformation I did .. my waist length hair to shaved , people still talk about it and it's been oh ... almost 10 yrs now ( my crazy long hair was a big talking point )
nice one :-)
Yeah my hair was an occasional conversation topic, do you have any pictures of your hair before and after? (If they're earlier in the thread tell me what page, there's too many pages to sift through.)
Lol, did you have any issues with people recognizing you? I've waved at quite a few of my friends only to have them stare blankly at me and look around to see if I'm gesturing to them:rofl2:
First time I went back into the office a supervisor kindly told me I was sitting at someones desk .. and politely asked me to move :-) it did take a while for people to get used to it .. even now some people still can't get used to it ... LOL
I love how you get happier as you lose your hair :)
Here's my puppy picture. I was hours old and not happy. The best thing is I remember this picture being taken:

Me, Little Abaco, Bahamas, March 2007.
Awlright,
This is as close as we're going to get as to seeing my image... Here's a quick photo of the Kaptain himself, in the office, hard at work. The office thermostat was set to -32c (that's -25.6F for you Fahrenheit fans) when this was taken. There was a refreshing breeze of about 15 mph, and as you can tell, I was forced to wear my SPF 2 million solid acrylic knit sunscreen due to the strong spring sunshine. And no.... I'm not winking at the camera... Mother nature decided she should spit in my eye, just as the shutter tripped. For around here, it was actually a fairly nice day.

Thanks guys, both for the condolences as well as the compliment. That was the first time I've dressed up in quite awhile and the first time wearing the bowler. My Brother, Randy, will be missed by all, but we know that he's in a better place.
I'm new to this forum. This is me with my gf, and my shiny forehead.
