My friend always posts tweets on our BBM group we have. It was from the Sun News Network, More couples buying sex toys amid NHL lockout. I find this very interesting. No hockey so, guys are buying the sex toys?? Very curious.
The NHL is the only league with significant representation in two countries (US and Canada). Hockey is probably the #4 sport in the US and it is #1 in Canada. I wonder if that makes it harder to come to an agreement. Are the richest teams Canadian, given the #1 status they have among sports? When I was a kid following the L.A. Kings, almost all players in the NHL were Canadian.

I dont know about the monet but i do know that in Canada most stadium are packed and in th USA not so much. After all this non-sense, the stadium in Canada will still bring a lot of fans but in the US i dont think so...... after a wonderful season last year with interesting play-offs people were interested in hockey but not anymore.Quote:

The Wings, Rangers, and Bruins regularly sell out. After that, it attendance takes a nosedive in the States.

It sounds like the "Original Six" (until 1966-67 Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, and New York Rangers were the entire NHL) are carrying the sport while the majority of teams struggle. In 1967-68 they added the L.A. Kings, Oakland Seals, Minnesota North Stars, St. Louis Blues, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Philadelphia Flyers to give them 12. I was excited because I lived in Kings Country and watched their televised games. It seemed to help the sport because some of the older players got to extend their careers with these new teams and some even came out of retirement. How many of you remember Terry Sawchuck, Gump Worsley (who never wore a mask as a goalie), Doug Harvey, Boom Boom Geoffrion to name a few? Those guys spiced up the new teams, particularly the Blues who signed every old timer they could find. But those guys are long gone. Players like Bobby Hull and Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito were young guys.
Now instead of 12 teams there are 30 teams playing 80 games each. Boy, that's a big problem because if you get rid of the weak teams you lose jobs. I don't think Donald Fehr is the right player's representative based on the work stoppages we had when he ran the baseball players association. Hockey isn't as strong because of all of the US teams.
One thing I would do is re-unite Toronto, Montreal, Boston, New York Rangers, Chicago, and Detroit in one division so that the strong teams get to play each other more and make as much money as they can for the sport.
