Gold price is very high, most investors buy low and sell high.

It's a commodity similar to many others. For example the intrinsic value of gold is very low - it's a very poor material for most everyday tasks, so the ordinary people who stockpile it do so based on its societally-agreed-value. It's the exact same thing with bitcoins, though much fewer people have signed up on them being valuable.
I do like the way bitcoins address the usual problems of currency like forgery and control of supply.
I'd be more than happy to, if you would be so kind to give me in exchange those useless papers that the US government prints - $3000 for each oz of heavy shine should do it. :)
Grocery store wouldn't take my bitcoins...
