Frederick Reynolds restoration...

Although not my first resto it is the one that I just finished. I have many that I would like to post but...my camera skills are pitiful to say the least: 1 part mechanical failure and 1 part pilot error... :D

Anyway this is the best I could do ( camera wise!) so I figured I would give it a shot.

The first pics are 'BEFORE' and then a couple of 'AFTER' shots. As you will see the etching on the blade was pretty well trashed and couldn't be saved, which I really don't mind, since this razor cost me less than a $20. I did the spine and shank with a 'mirror polish' and the blade face with a 'satin' finish. The contrast is really quite nice, but you won't see it in the photos unfortunately. All done by hand... with a dremmel being used for the polish.

The scales are horn, were hand sanded, then polished with a dremmel using 'Brown' polishing compound. Finish polishing on the scales was accomplished with Maas.

The razor still has yet to be pinned...as soon as the 'anal-side' of my brain is happy! :D

Send that razor back to the seller for some better pics....you did a great job and it deserves to be showcased a little better....

You could use the same hammer to fix the cam as you use to set the pins. I find a proper choice in hammer will fix just about anything .

It's a nice size...13+ 16th's. The champion of liberty: Geo. Washington. I would have liked to save the etching, but it was too far gone unfortunately.

Thanks Martin...I've seen your work, and coming from you, I really appreciate the compliment. As to the camera skills...I agree. It's called low quality camera and 'shaky hands'. :D

Excellent job, the scales look new again.
