Blood Red Gold

I got this on e-Bay. Joking around in another thread I went and looked only to win. I was bidding on a 7/8 but after I won it turned into a 6/8. Seller gave me a discount but didn't have to really. Came with a strop too !

The brass was about the same color as the scales and it had a small chunk out of it above the G .
A little magic and it started looking good right away.

I had to decide on a color and liking the opaque acrylics and never having seen a good enough pearl type to replace these with I picked this red. Not as opaque as the other 2 I have done but I thought it more appropriate for a Goldedge .

This is my 4th transfer job and I am starting to enjoy it.
Today not so much. All I had to do was pin it. I dropped washers 26 times , had to pin it 3 times. The dang blade closed to the backside and hit so I had to fix that twice. I need to buy some of those tiny screws and nuts for next time. The others just closed perfect first pin but I guess my luck ran out and a lesson was learned. I have to do a final clean up and polish which is going to take a lot longer. After un-pinning and pinning the sucker 3 times it got a little scratched up. The biggest positive note to this one is , I gave it the terry cloth rub down and it never grabbed a single thread and I got aggressive with it. So other than the look of it you would never know it's not actually inlay-ed.

I have to start buying ONLY the ones I already have so I can talk myself into selling them. :<0)

As for the seven day set,,,,,I do have that goal but was trying to do it in all Satinedge razors. This one just happened along and needed scales. I have a few more that have less than desirable scales on them and may get a set before I start culling in Satinedges. 7 seems to be some sort of goal for me with razors. I get one and start thinking " I need 6 more of these. ":D

The Master of Transfers, or should I say the Meister of Transfers! Either way....you keep the essence of the razor then add some. That is a skill that deserves some admiration!

That looks really good. You mentioned that you had to re-pin because the blade was hitting the scales - does that mean that it was the scales that were out as opposed to the blade? What did you do to get a better fit?

The scales were perfectly straight and the washer new. All the other Ducks I have done went together and centered perfectly. I think it was the tang because I measured everything with a straight edge and calipers and crystal ball. I sanded down the inside of the scales behind the washer to get it to center. It didn't take much. I failed the first time and it came out perfect the second time. So that makes 3 times I had to pin the pivot. I am going to buy some test screws now :<0)
