Here she is before. The seller was very good a describing what can be seen but he did make 1 mistake in advertising.

Well I was surprised when I got it. It looked just as bad as the pictures. :<0) And it was an 8/8 and not a 7/8 as described. It also had a bevel that was 3" long.
I watched the tip of the toe disappear while scraping off the rust there and so I had to shorten it about an 1/8 which helpped make the chunk of rust up near the spine get smaller. There are still some deep pits on the tang and 2 on the blade itself but there was just no way to take that much out of the thickness without leaving a different kind of blemish.
Initial bevel set took it to 15/16ths.

So here it is after some praying and a lot of work.

15/16ths with 2 7/8" bevel.
Set in translucent grey acrylic scales.
All original hardware.
I am not happy with the pics but too lazy to set up the whole photo tent.
I plan on setting it up and making a photo collection of all my Ducks after Christmas.

My guess is that your 'Gut Feeling' comes with a whole lot of experience whereas my 'Gut Feeling' would be like throwing a dart at the board (no, I'm not good at darts).

I haven't been Duck hunting that long but this is the 3rd Duck at 8/8. The first 2 were Goldedges and 1 I missed while drinking in the blind and the other was waaaay out of range. This one was just too ugly I guess.

You do know that if you keep up this DD addiction you are gonna have to change yer handle to something like DuckmanJack.

Those are so thinly ground, I am suprised it came out so good! The scales must be massive compared to other Satinedges. It looks as the same ratio, blade to scales, as smaller ones.

I have to correct the title of this thread. The scales are not grey :gaah: I just went out to pick the next color and found the grey still uncut. What you see is a light bronze. You may notice that now that I pointed it out :<0)

The scales are a little bigger but they don't feel massive. I know the standard Satinedge brass would never work. I did some test looking because I really wanted to go there. I have noticed the 8/8 Goldedges have the same shape scales and the name just cut off the bolster brass. Just saw a NOS 1 go by.

Grabbed a comparison shot for ya to gander at .

Normal 6/8 scales on the bottom. I have a 7/8 Goldedge with the small scales style but larger also. I am just now realizing how many differences there are in Ducks that LOOK exactly the same.
