Bell Belfast restore.
Fully restored this Bell from Belfast, circa 1840 razor in authentic Irish blackthorn and added a little Irish bling to her. Posted more pics and details in the workshop.
Designed the scales from scratch and tried to keep the lines following the blade profile. I also tried to achieve a weathered finish to maintain the vintage feel of her.
Cheers.

Nicely done. That Blackthorn is dense and HARD.

It sure was!
Hard, but the sweetest smelling sawdust I've ever experienced.
Dust was like a fine talc during the shaping on the belt. Wood had a much lighter shade than I expected and I may try to make a few scales and treat them naturally.

I'm making a brush handle out of the surplus stock on the weekend hopefully.
Appreciate the feedback folks.

And here's the matched set completed.

Still have enough stock to try a proper turned handle with later, but I liked the shape of this little nub of a branch left over so smoothed her down and thought, WTF, a little longer handle might be nice in my deep scuttle. Had an extra triquetra since I ordered three in case I botched one on the scales so set that in a little branch knoll that was already there. Almost looks like it was meant to be a set..
Shaves really well and aside from a slight narrowing of the bevel where the rust resided I'm pretty happy with how it all worked out.
Cheers.

Thanks Guys. I tried to do the old blade justice and received lots of good suggestions from folks on here which really helped. Kept my hands busy while I waited for the garage to warm up enough to work on the cars,, hehe.
Cheers.
