This one came to me as a blade only, hence the rescale. The manufacturer was Birks (William and John of Norfolk Street; the mark appears in the Gales and Martin directory). I hope that it resembles what it once looked like. Scales are horn, attempting to match the coloring of some period examples I have. The collars likely would have been stamped steel, but this shape of stamped brass was not unheard of at the time.

That's a beautiful tang stamp. Is the blade designed to be fluted like that or is that age? What would be the year of this blade? Early 19th century I'm guess from the design of the scales?

Thanks Martin! I based the scales off of another Birks I have. To make sure I got the details right, the insides of the scales near the wedge are roughly finished, and the wedge has the extra 3 holes drilled in it to match others I have seen (though this really shouldn't have a wedge at all I think).Quote:
