right under my post to the left theres a "thumbs up" icon and the word "thanks"........hit that and see if it works. that's the super computer geek way of doin it!;)
also super computer geek way to "like" someones post is on the right hand side under a post, the "like/share"..... hit like and you will see what happens
Mark, the "thanks" is just the button on the bottom left of someone's post.
(you probably know my by my first name in the hand tools section of SMC). Well, maybe you do and maybe you don't, but how many people from over there shave?!

Carver. here is how you show that you appricate it by using "Thanks" & "Like"
If you post something you have done and someone comments it you can see under his or hers post two buttons witch you can click to show you appricate the feedback.
Here is a picture for you. But remember that each induvidual post has there own "Like" & "Thanks" buttons in the bottom of the post that you click on. (so if i wanted to like or thanks your latest post here i would have clicked on following)

To me saying thank you meant typing it in a post after someone said "
Nice job " I've done this all over my posted replies but I guess that's not the accepted way
I guess not hitting that button lead to the accusations of never thanking anyone.

I do not know what the thread was, but my guess is that people viewed that as trying to keep secret and since you are a vendor that lead to assumptions.
There is a button under every post that reads "thanks" in the lower left corner. When you hit it it will +1 your thanks count.Quote:

You do not have to thank everyone, you can also use the "like" button if you want. When I post a restore and people comment I use the thanks button personally.
There is a button on top of the reply area that you can use to quote text, it is the last button in the row. Highlight the test you want to quote and press the button. It is what I am using to do multiple quotes in my reply right now. If you want to quote the full text, use the "Reply with quite" button in the lower right corner of the reply area.Quote:

I think, since you say you like to learn new things, take 5 min to learn the functionality of the site, it is a lot simpler than razor restoration, not to mention the format is predominantly used on most forums out there.

I have seen no one post a razor as special which has been restored by you for them. Your 'normal' restos look simply as good as others here. Nothing to raise the bar or lower it. You have succeeded in dividing the community over your tit-for-tat and I personally feel that is part of your agenda. I cannot, for the life of me, understand how you have achieved vendor status here, yet you have accomplished that as well. Does that give you special consideration as well? I think not.
No one has attacked you, yet your fans and friends have declared so. A silly thread, IMO.
So therefore I shall like your last post so you can see how it is done. I truly do like it as it demonstrates what my above statement implies. I shall excuse myself from this thread now and leave the glory to you.

So those are posts that members like. If you scroll up to the top of any page where you see you member name, there is a "Notifications" tab also. That one tells you when you have new PM's as well as new "Likes" from other members of things you've posted and according to your profile you have over 2800 "Likes" ....so some members here must dig you work! :)Quote:

haha, mycarver- ive had few work related joys that compare to pushing a finely tuned hand plane through a piece of hard wood and hearing/feeling/seeing the ribbons flow from that cutting edge, or whacking out a mortise and tennon joint by hand. even the act of splitting a felled tree in half lengthwise with just some hand made wooden wedges (gluts) and a mallet! if I could correspond with hand written letters id be more happy and relaxed for sure. gone are the days when we can fully enjoy those pleasures, everything is about technological advancements!
keep enjoying your work, communicate as best you can, take criticisms as a learning experience and improve from there if that's your desire. im sure there will be a flood of "thanks" pouring in now that you know where the button is. my only suggestion from here is to move on from this thread, continuing it in the pursuit of "righting the wrong" only serves as a divisive means. I look forward to seeing the positive atmosphere on the threads to come, try to relax and enjoy the day! :D
