Well I have been way inactive the past week. But hey sometimes life happens. Enough with that talk onto the razor.
This week I am restoring wh Morley and sons clover brand 5/8 with a barbers notch.
This one is pretty rough but for 8$ I said y not.

The handle clearly is shot out and the blade ,though rusted, looks to have some life left.
First order was handles. So I have some ebony that I wanna use but I also have been wanting to try my hand at making composite(micarta™).
So I glued up some old tank top and have it being pressed in the back yard.

So that's where I'm at as of now. Sanding and watching resin cure.
Tomorrow should tell me what my scale material will be.
inactivity strikes occasionally, the good thing is that you can beat it down easily and get some nice projects rollin like you have here :D lookin forward to seeing either ebony or micarta in the next couple days! keep us posted
Well what can I say the micarta turned out and I'm moving forward with it. Bade polished up OK. Some pitting dangerously close to the edge but.... It should be able to make it.

And now to finish sand.
OK fellas. Day two wrapped. I'm at a cross roads. I don't know what material to use for my wedge. [emoji15]
Here's where everything is at.
Blade is polished as best as u can.
And handles shaped sanded and buffed.
Any suggestions for a wedge material?

that last pic of the scale looks cool. as for wedge material what do have to work with? id stick with a darker material personally with those lighter scales. any acrylic material laying around? acrylics are easy to shape and offer variety as far as color. you could always forget about my dark wedge as a contrast idea and just use the same material you used on the scales. make it look like a one piece scale?
not a bad idea. I have a decent supplier a couple miles from me. I have some ebony and some more Ipe too. but I feel something with grain would be to much on this one.Quote:

Very nice. When I read what you were going to make the scales out of I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I like the look of them.
I wasn't sure either until I started shaping and they turned out looking almost like a blonde horn.

There is nothing wrong with leaving some of the Battle Scars and the Soul of the razor! They all don't need to be totally 'Shiny'!

I Only used 2K sandpaper to see what I had, then I dropped to 1K and worked a little then I went back up to the 2K and then Mothers Mag Wheel polish with newspaper then the Mothers with cloth.
I could have fairly easily gotten the 'near mirror finish' but I would have lost this already very faint etching;
