Finally finished assembling my razor!

Hi all,

About a year and a half ago, I started playing with razor making. Long story short, I finished the razor that I'm going to keep (not the only, of course).

I had to add a fourth pin to keep things tight and stop the blade from swinging through the scales. I don't mind it al all.

I may regrind a bit, but my aesthetic is something like 'in beauty there is imperfection'. Maybe that's a cop-out, what the heck.

Your wedge is very thick & reversed.
I could see the razor swinging thru the scales if assembled the right way round.

I fixed it before assembling... Had a good laugh when I realized!

what I like most about your design are the humped tang area and how thick the tang looks. it gives it an old timey look. doesn't look bad at all with that middle pin, did you narrow that wedge down when you got it going the right direction? I sometimes utilize a thicker wedge than typical to get a blade to ride higher or lower in the scales, to whatever looks most pleasing to my eye at the moment, but typically I would stick with a wedge that's about as thick as the blade is 3/4 of the way up from the cutting edge, at the rear of the wedge. I don't measure but you certainly could use calipers to get the measurement. then adjust it from there if you want the blade riding higher then thin the wedge a bit. if you want it riding lower....... make a new, thicker wedge and start over. :p

I like the pinning, are those vintage washers?

Thanks. No, they are brass washers, but I like the old style double washers. I made a walnut cylindrical bead for the fourth pin (story of its own), and added a couple of copper washers to get the spacing right. I bought brass, stainless and copper washers all at once online. Nice to have options.
