Tis week I finished 2 interesting projects. The first is an Alien1, but with a smile. The blade is about 9/8 half hollow.The notches and jimps make it lock perfectly in my fingers. It's mirror finished, following some tips I got from Max which I wanted to try out. The scales are kirinite glow in the dark. This is awesome stuff. In low light conditions it glows yellow green, which is just perfect for an Alien. I made the notches on scales match those on the spine. The wedge is kirinite green MOP. I really wish I could make a picture of the glowing scales but I can't seem to take pictures in the dark.

The second blade is a fixed handle razor of which the spine / handle follow a sinewave-ish line that I thought felt natural. It is 8/8 and very curved, both in the handle and in the blade. It too is mirror finished. I added jimp patterns to break the monotony of the otherwise smooth handle. The stand is meranti.

I like them both. great design idea adding the jimps on the fixed blade to break up monotony.

Seriously nice. I'm not big on the fixed handles, but the lines just grab my attention and won't let go. Superb.

Bruno, the Alien is pretty neat but the fixed blade is beautiful. Your art continues to improve with each batch you put out. Well done :tu

I have to be careful of what I say, or I'll end up with another, but the fixed blade is INCREDIBLE!! I have never seen one with such beautiful lines.

did you grill some chokes marerinated in basalmic and olive oil??

I'm going to be honest, I don't care for the Alien razor. Just too much going on with it, but I think a lot of guys really do like that style.

As for the fixed blade, I love it! Nice and clean with very precise beauty marks. Well done!

The fixed blade does it for me. Drooling done for the day and I can get on with necessary tasks (cleaning out the fridge - punishment for enjoying the forum too much lately.)

The lines flow very well on both of them. A fixed blade like that would fit well in my collection, and against my face I would imagine..

The fixed handle one is a really nice shaver.
The Alien as well, but I am going to have to mute the point a bit. That is just lethal. The angle of the blade in relation to the tang is such that with this point, it is going to scratch into your skin bad. I just cut myself. The very has a habit of coming dangerously close to cutting with every pass.

That is an accident waiting to happen, and with only a minute modification, that can be fixed. That's one of the reasons I still testshave every razor I make. I can judge the bevel and the edge with other tests, but different designs handle differently and this type of smile and this type of point just don't go together in this manner.

I wondered about that when I saw the pics.

Your work is very nicely executed. Not exactly to my tastes in razors as far as design, but I can see that you are an excellent craftsman and making very unique and serviceable products.

About all I can do with a hammer any more is set pins. My wrists are gone and I can't swing the big hammers any more. I envy your ability to make the hot steel do what you wish. I enjoyed when I was able.
