Just came across this on Instructables, really good write up of what most people think of as a long gone art (hehe little do they know).
Great video . I must admit that watching members here making their own blades makes me think that I must give it a try one day.

Watching this video gives me renewed confidence that I can re-scale my whipped dog sight unseen with the big beef bone I picked up at the Farmer's market for $2.50. I don't have much in the way of belt sanders and such, but I do have a grinder wheel, a jig saw, some sandpaper, and a little grit. Thanks for documenting your work. I'm inspired.
