Which restoration service do you recommend from this site

From the information I got about a straight blade I just got its a 1920 Griffon XX 00. When I got home today I tested to see how sharp it was and it's not sharp at all, close to a dull steak knife. Also the there's some staining on the blade, luckily there's no nicks in the blade (I inspected before I tested the sharpness) so it needs a good honing and buff and polishing. I know this site has some services provided to send our blades and was wondering which service you guys recommend, if location is a factor I'm in the Midwest of the U.S.

If you look in the members service section of the classifieds there are a number of ads. Look at each of the guys and figure out who you want to email first and see who you would feel the most comfortable doing business with. I could not say who is better or that I like more, that will have to be what you figure out through dialogue. It could be that all you need or want is a good cleaning and a honing.

I'm a fan of in person work. If its at all possible, I try to find a local fella, and go meet them, see what they can do/have done.

If there is nobody close enough, then go with a guy who has a strong reputation. There are plenty of people offering restoration and honing in the classifieds, but I myself have a hard time with the thought of paying a newcomer to the field the same money as a guy who has been doing it for numerous years.

I've personally never had a straight razor restored yet but I an a fan of Brad Maggard's work. He is not the only vendor on here but I feel like his work is consistantly awesome from pieces that he post on here and his own website.( I hope that I don't get banned for this)

There are several people who do "consistently awesome" work.

Cleaned this blade up a while back for Marc1985 as a PIF. I'm in the process of deleting old photos from my phone and figured I'd share some pics befor I delete them. It cleaned up well and took a very nice edge.

I would choose somebody close to you. There are WAY too many restorers on this site to recommend that do excellent work. Be sure to post the after pics when you get it back, looks like a nice old razor that should clean up well.
