Glen you worked your magic on this when I really wasn't sure about what scales I wanted. Can't wait to shave with this razor. Thanks for this beauty! For those that read it in a previous thread I found this razor in an old barber shop in Jersey city. Guy sold it to me for 20 bucks along with a philly that was nos. the scales were in bad shape I'll post a before pic when I get home. (Traveling right now) Thanks again Glen.
I have moved to it because Ivory is basically verbotton now,, I like using bone I have used Elk thigh bones that I find locally, I have used Buffalo and Cattle thigh bones but man that is a ton of work to get them ready for use..
The Camel bone is easily available to me from an old customer of mine, it is close to be ready to use you have to have the ability to thin it down as it comes in at about .175" which is way to thick, heavy and non flexible until you get it down to .110" or less I shoot for less then .100"
Anyway probably more info then ya wanted but I tend to ramble hehehe
Camel Bone is fantastic stuff,IME extreamly stable and has an ivory look,Note the absence of all the black holes (halversian canals).
Have had several pairs sittting on my bench for two yrs now,Has not moved at all, unlike Ivory.
Very nice, Glen.
Wonderful work, Glen. Unreal finish on the scales. Does camel bone need a polymer (or some other) fill to polish up like that or is that just finely grained and that's what the buffing wheel does to it?
Also, I never see the name Eric Anton Berg without thinking I just read/saw Anita Ekberg. Thank you for that.
I really like those bone scales. Nice work
