Tactical assault razor
This is a piece of concept art. I obviously don't think that a razor is a good weapon for any kind of situation. This started a long time ago, when I held a fixed handle razor and thought 'this feels like a knife'. It made me ask myself: what would this razor look like if I designed it as a weapon? Ignoring the impracticality of a razor weapon, I decided to see what I could do.
The point is square-ish, to avoid it breaking off easily. The spine is decorated with large incisions, for hooking an arm or something in case you wanted to throw someone, judo style, without letting go of the razor. The handle has grooves on the top side, and skeleton finger grips in the bottom side to make sure this stays in your hands no matter what. Btw, I kept its use as a shaver in mind. This fits in your hands quite comfortably, both for WTG and ATG. And then the tail ends in a stub with a square spike that can be used for crushing 'things'. And of course it has a hole for a lanyard or some more paracord. And of course, the razor was etched black to make it look 'tactical' :)
Inspired by some solutions I have seen here for protecting the edges of fixed handle razors, I decided to quit making stands (which don't work for anyone) and make scales that could be bound to the razor closely to keep the edge free from any outside contact. I chose double neon green shockers because imo it goes well with the black razor.
I've testshaved with it because I was curious, and it handles and shaves like a charm.

Dangnabit Bruno! You may call it concept art, but I call it brilliant. If I were 60 years younger and knew what I know now I'd want one of those to take with me to the Alaska wilderness. A survival instrument if ever I saw one.
-
Yes, it turns out the razor sits firmly in the hand.

LOVE THE BLACK ETCHING!!!!

I like the blade and handle shape.
Just a word of warning, I have seen similarly executed blade guard, on a San Mai blade. The pressure from the rubber band being used to hold the blade in the guard had caused scratches/indentations at some points of contact. The guard I saw was made from Carbon Fiber. I do not know if your blades will experience similar issues but thought I'd share.
-
It is possible of course. This is paracord, so the scales are held in place, but not pressed against the blade. If something were to press the 2 together, the guard might be dented or scratched. It is much softer than the steel, so the blade would be fine I expect.
The main reason for the guard is to make sure that the edge would not be damaged during shipping, and to be able to store the blade safely. I used to make stands to make sure that the razor could be storedwithout damaging the edge. But stands are impractical.

I wonder how long until cheap, Chinese knockoffs begin to appear.

(I like the hook hole in the tang, too.)

Wow you are making my RAD kick in again Bruno
I just love the look of this.
Time to start saving methinks.

When I first read the title to this thread I instantly thought I would not like it.... most people's " tactical " is way off...
But I have to say you did a great job looks practical and beautiful
Before I looked at the pictures I tried to come up with what I would want something like this to look like....
This is the first thing I could think of....

You really have done a wonderfull job with this ....
I really would bring that to the field with me ... if it had a better way to store it and I knew it would not break. ..lol
Sorry to ramble on an old thread but this was just to good to not comment on XD

Wow, what I'd give to shave with that beauty!

If I thought my wife would not kill me I would ... she is also in the army lol....
Someday I'll need to buy one like this....but need a new way to store it...
because I really do need one to use when we are out in the field for training and such ....
And as it stands I could not keep this in my ruck.....
Maby a hard case that it can securely mount in...or some such...
Anyway lol not an issue until I can afford one XD

Wow, interesting. It looks like it would be tricky to shave with, but I guess one would have to try it to know. Nice looking piece.
