Dorko Steel restoration.

Found this at an antique barn in Bobcageon, Ontario.

Not in bad shape really, rust not to deep into the etching yet but still quite aggressive around the broken pivot area.
Engine46 stepped in and graciously sent me some never been pinned Dorko scales and some complimentary nickel rod as well.
Cleaned up the blade by hand with electrical tape covering the non rust affected areas of the blade. And I'm pretty happy with the results.

My first Dorko, and while I don't normally go for round nose razors, I do like the look of this one in it's new suit.
Just need to hone it up and go for a test shave. Temper and thinness of blade have me excited. Good Solingen steel here it feels like, with minimal edge damage surprisingly.

Wow - two Dorko's - that is a superb find, super hard steel, hopefully won't cause too much hair pulling getting an edge on those....congrats!

Nice work, Mike and kudos to Steve for sharing those scales. Slick black with inlay is hard to beat, IMO.
I would think you might find those round points are just fine! ;)

That's the same Dorko in old damaged red, then new black scales phrank. I do have a second Dorko, but it's one of those 444 blanks and I have yet to find a blanchard grinder to borrow to do it a proper grind. So it waits in the wings.

Thanks for the comments gents, I will be giving it a few good tests and expect to love the results as much as my Bokers. Edge and blade profile reminiscent of them, but dare I say maybe thinner?
The logo in the etch matches the inlay spot on which I couldn't have planned for but am delighted to appreciate.
Super nice of Steve to offer up such nice, unused scales. :tu

It seemed to take mere minutes on the 1k to clean up the edge. My bevel is almost set.

There has always been a mental block to buying a Dorko. Sorta like a Gotta or an Erusta.
Silly, I suppose. I DO have a German Sinfone. :D

I have seen and not bid on them on the bay for a few years but when I held this one in the barn, broken scale and rust and all, the blade just felt really nice, the temper that I know I like against my face after a few years of this hobby.
Now i have to google Sinfone.
