Custom Contrast razor 7/8 - HG

I just finished up this custom razor. The tang got black polished finish. It was quite difficult to perform at home. I do not etched with acid. I did, as is often the weapons. I tested it, it works very well. I hope you will like it.

steel: O1 hardened to HRC 61
scales and wedge: G10
blade wide: 7/8"
grinding: 1/4 hollow
Nickel silver pins and stainless steel washers. Phosphor-Bronze pivot bearing washers.

PS. The lines of the scales so clearly match the spine of the blade that there is no question that all was designed as a whole. So seldom that is done, unfortunately!

I've been a fan of your designs for some time now Gregg...BUT this one is really beautiful. I'm not usually a big fan of the long monkey tails but on this razor it just flows so nice from tip to tail. Great work!

I think you've nailed this one to my exact specs.

Gregg, I have a SR Droescher Karbono with the dark grey etched tang and spine. It has a couple of pitted places. I'm concerned that if I sand/polish them out I will also remove some of the finish on the spine. How did you go about creating your finish on your tang and spine? You said it was difficult. Can you describe the process more fully? Thanks. Great job on that razor...

I do not etched with acid, I used "Pentrate Super Black". I got it in Hungary. This is a powder like these.

The difficulty of the procedure at home it must be dissolved in water and to boil 140-150C / 280-300F continuously. The etching time is between 10-30 sec. depending on the desired effect. The process does not work on stainless steel.
