1st hand hammered laminated steel
Some time ago I made my first multi layer billet, using 5 alternating layers of O2 and 15N20. It was more like an experiment to see if I could do it. The forge welding part was a success. There were no inclusions or delaminations. I did not anticipate the amount of steel I would lose to scale, and I also did not understand that both sides should be hammered more or less equally. The billet was sound so I decided to make a razor out of it.
This is the result. You can see both sides are not similar. This is because I hammered one side more than the other, causing the billet to dish out some. Still, I think the end result looks nice.
The scales are shamrock's luck shokwood.
