Dyson Warranted

Some time ago I asked here for help with the identification of a very old and rare straight razor.
Quite mysterious, searching the Web I could not find any razor nor manufacturer of that name.
It's only thanks to Voidmonster – THANKS AGAIN, the razor could be identified as a work of John Dyson,
who lived and worked in Sheffield around 1800's.



DYSON WARRANTED – the shape of the blade, scales and the stubtail – all that make this hypothesis quite likely.


As the original scales were completely rotten and cracked, I decided to make new ones of semi-transparent brown horn,
trying to preserve their original shape with old iron washers and an ivory wedge.

Fantastic job! With scales that bad you have no choice but you did an outstanding job on the replacements. The original shape was an decision and using the inlays was the final finishing touch!

What!!???!!! What an amazing job! I really enjoy seeing razors restored in a traditional look. Especially older razors. I think this is perfect.

Thank you. The inlays have been made of stainless steel.

Those scales look just great.
be proud of them, and the razor itself is beautiful.
I't just so well balanced in looks, with that not too broad blade and a slight wedge.

With the new scales it could be an old classci, as well as a new modern design.
