Joseph Rodgers and sons with ivory scales

I just finished this up this afternoon, it turned out pretty well overall. I only did light polishing because I wanted to keep the etch, which left some marks from the rust but everything is smooth. My only issue was a doozy- I cracked the ivory scales unpinning them:( I glued them back together and sanded to try to hide the break, but obviously you can see the crack! This was my first attempt unpinning and pinning ivory, I just went super slow on the pinning to avoid breaking them. Again.

Wow, that came out nice. I love that blade style and point. Should be a shaver.

Nice work. How did you darken the etch?

I didn't darken the etch at all, it just amazedly looks nice even after my polishing! The part of the blade with the etch is didn't have any corrosion, so I just started the work in that section at 1000 grit to save the letters.

Haven't really given it much thought.
Would like to unpin it and do a proper refurb of the blade.
But will have to wait until it's in my hands to have a proper look.

It looks like it will need to be unpinned to really get it back into shape. Are those scales horn or synthetic?

I collected it earlier and the scales are synthetic as far as I can tell.
Apart from the Patina, blade is in good condition and centres nicely in the scales.

I would of used new ivory scales!

Joseph Rodgers are fantastic shavers. I've got a sevenday set in ivory and absolutely love those razors.

I ordered some honey coloured horn for the scales as well as some bone for the wedge.

Should arrive within a month or so.
