Two old razors back in action

Here are two razors I have recently restored and honed: a 5/8 Macpherson & Son of Montreal "Triumph 86" half hollow in custom scales and a 6/8 bellied full hollow in horn scales by an unknown manufacturer - labelled "The Westminster" and retailed by Ayrton & Saunders of Liverpool.

The custom scales are stabilized pearwood inlaid with Australian red cedar on one side and Huon pine on the other. The Macpherson blade was supplied by johnmrson and the Westminster was an antique shop find.

Both razors were honed on a progression of 1k, 2k, 4k, 8k and 16k Shapton glass stones and stropped on a 3" English bridle from Straight Razor Designs.

I am intrigued by the Montreal razor. Good to see old blades back to work. Just like me they should never be without work for too long.

Yes, the Macpherson & Son razor is a rarity. I have no idea whether they were actually made in Canada or were made to order in the US or Germany and stamped with Macpherson's name, as is often the case with razors sold by Australian retailers like Ward Brothers or Jno Baker. If you have access to a Canadian newspaper archive it might be worth searching for original advertising. Macpherson's may have boasted either of their manufacturing ability or of the German, American or Sheffield origin of their products.

Congrats on putting those two back to shaving. You have captured the real spirit of SRP.
