Greaves restoration
Hello All,
My first post and thank you for the wonderful forum.
I recently have had the pleasure of purchasing razors from a great member of this board. In addition, I have asked him to restore a few. He is an artist and a wonderful gentleman. I will not reveal his name unless instructed to, or even if this is allowed. His work is so beautiful and I hope I am not breaking any rules by posting this. I have sent him a number of razors for restoring and I will post a few before and afters.

Welcome to SRP. I like your choice to leave the patina. An antique should have the patina it has earned, as long as it isn't serious corrosion. Great looking razors, I particularly like that Roberts Warranted.

Nice razors.:tu
I admire and recognize the workmanship.

Those razors are awesome! He did a great job and you will really enjoy them.
I swear I've seen that eagle on here before holding other great razors.

Looks great! :D
So.. Who did this deed? (He's going to tell, He's going to tell!)
-
I don't know why he's hiding it, we've all seen his work before. Tc

I just wanted his permission before I plastered his name all over. In any case Karl is an incredible craftsman and gentleman. You all know him from his stellar restorations on this forum. Thank you Karl!
Best,
Jeff

Nice set of blades sir, and really awesome restore work!

I'm spoiled with Karl's work. I only recently (5 months) began straight razor usage and collecting.

Wouldn't it be great if you could have a conversation with the chap who first owned that Roberts Warranted?
-
Funny you say that. I shaved with it last night and it was so fantastic. I was thinking the same thing. Karl said it might be as old as 1820 or 1830

By looking at the shape of the blade and the monkey tail on the Roberts Warranted it wouldn't surprise me if it went back to the late 1700's.
