Ern Ator
as the restoration section is kind of lonely lately here is one I did for myself not so long ago..
I liked ERN ATOR for a while and got one few years ago. The scales were cracked at a pivot hole, scratched, the pivot peen had a screw... thy were salvageable but I decided to make my own scales as for a long awaited humpback, little did I know that it was going to take 2 years.

I decided to go with ebony, and tried to do it the modern way, via 3d, modelling, and later with diy 3D scanning, that would serve for later CNC carve(ing).
After running on the same spot for a while I decided to go with a good old copy-ing device (that was used for centuries ago already).. I used it to transfer the outlines for the scales "ATOR" sign (Dremel was used for the carving).

As this part was fairly simple, the next, the carving and caving and carving took ages.. I felt almost like our scales carving master mycarver (not due to my scales, but due to the amount of time I used for carving :D) ..

Excellent work! I have an ATOR and it is probably my favourite German razor. Excellent work bringing this back to life.

That looks Fantastic! Excellent work and perseverance. Hope you enjoy it for a long time.

Very nice job, and good usage of new, and old technologies to replicate the logo.
Should be good to go for another century at least now.

that was my plan, if I deduct potential physical damages, it should be good for quite some time :)

I saw that on SOTD. Was definitely custom....In a good way!:tu
I had wondered how you did it! Now I know!
Nice job!

Love those ERN Ators! Mine that I redid in horn scales (originals were too far gone) is one of my favorites. Beautiful job on the scales.

Excellent work. I have an Ator with blonde scales & I need to dig out.
