JA Henkels rusty restore
I picked this henkels up for my covered tang seven day set. It was in worse condition than what I normally start with, and worse than the pics online.Attachment 271088

But I divided to keep it and get to work. I sanded with 600/800/1000/1500/2000/2500 and some w/d 40. Sanded for about 3 hours but was not able to get all the putting out without risking sanding the blade too thin. Then hand polished for a while with mothers mag and aluminum polish. Tightened up the pivot pin so it was snugged up. It did turn out fairly well considering the way it arrived to me. Was not sure of what the scale and tang materials are since there's no washers on the scale pins. But with the way the blade looked when it made its way to me I am keeping it isolated just in case.

Thanks for looking.

It looks good, thanks for sharing.
It's a shame that you won't be able to test shave until Saturday though :nono:

Nice job, looks fantastic. A long ways from what you started with

I did not think that this project could have gone this well. I am impressed.

That turned out really nicely, and it doesn't have much hone wear -- nice razor.
I was hoping to see the other side of the blade after your work. I know you said there was some pitting you couldn't get out, but I bet it looks lots better than before!
-
I'll post a pic of the back side when I get home tonight, and should be able to have it honed too.
-
You brought it back from
The dead!
-
I was really questioning if I could do it, and if it would even look decent or even usable

Here is the pic of the backside of the blade, and also a closeup of the scale. Figure it will help to is the material.
