John Bagshaw Restoration
Here I've finished restoring a razor I picked up locally a few weeks ago. The tang is stamped John Bagshaw, Penknife & Razor Maker, 25(?) Church St. Liverpool. I haven't been able to find very much info about the maker yet so if anyone knows something please add it to the thread. I've only found John Bagshaw located at 87, 89, & 91 Church St. but this stamp looks to me like 25, or maybe 35.
I fell in love with this blade right away, the lines are so nice. The thumb notch and the flat underside of the tail, the large upper jimps and fine lower jimps, the flat spot on the spine at the tip... all come together nicely on this one. The scales were cracked and the blade had some rust. I made new horn scales for it and a lead wedge. It has brass pins and rosette collars, closes on center. I'm looking forward to good shaves with it, thanks for checking it out!
