Made my first razors

These are the first razors I made, they are a mix of stainless and O1 steel blades with synthetic handles. They are currently being tested by some experienced straight users.

I like the looks of them but really could not say much more without shaving with one or honing one. No, not asking to be a tester. Let us know how the testing goes. Good luck to you as I think you are on the right track as far as I can tell from the photos.

I like what I see. That said, I like, even more, the statement that they are being tested by experienced users. Good luck and continued success!

Clean traditional styling... If they hone up and keep an edge, I'd say you have a winner.

Very nice lines, and a style that I think is nice to start with. Some "first" razors I've seen have a bizarre or outlandish shape to them. Nice job, and I hope your testers find that they hone up and shave well, and keep an edge.

They look like very classic designs. Are you planning to try different point styles?

Thanks, they are suppose to be Spanish points! Different points will be made. They are still being tested so I need to make sure the razors are as good as I can get them. It will be a few weeks before new ones made with user feedback will be available for sale.

Who honed the razors for you, and what was your honing progression? I would also like to know who these experienced straight razor users are in the UK, as I hone more razors in the UK than anyone.

Hard to tell the point style from the photo. Regardless, they look great.

The proof is in the shaving and it will be interesting to hear the results of the test shaves.

I honed them, 400 ezelap, 1000 and 2000 shapton glass, 4000 and 8000 norton, 12000 Naniwa speciality stone and plain leather strop, the testers are members of Straight Razor UK on facebook.

Nice looking razors. I like that you went with a nice functional design instead of a crazy looking 11/8 blade with spine that looks like a serrated edge.
Can you provide some more information about them?
What type of stainless used, did you combine the steels yourself, dimensions, type of grind, type of synthetic material used in scales, tempering process, and do you know the HRC? I imagine the guys that are really into customs or do work themselves would like to know more about how you produced these blades.

The steels are O1 and Sandvik 12C27 stainless, the handles are G10 glass composite, the grinds are half hollow, tempered at 150C. Don't know the HRc.

I recently bought a chan van wyk razor which i’ve used once and found really good. I’m not sure if it was from this first batch of razors but it looks similar. Thanks.
