Thanks, Rez. It has kept me busy!
In spite of not doing much, it took a long time to do!
Here's the money-shot. One layer of tape.....
Such a nice (rough!) regrind was done.

Jiminy Cricket!!!
That razor is glorious!
Very good job on the restore, you have some serious skills. Some day I hope to have a GB. But I don't think I'll ever have one like that!
These are awesome razors, I am lucky to have one of them.
Thanks, MikeT. I suppose I let it sit around so long as I did not know how far I wanted to go with it. Having time, I just let the old thing go where it wanted.
Seeing The recently-sold one Hacker7 referred-to confirmed that pretty-much leaving it alone and fixing the issues was the best way for ME to go. It will shave and be sturdy.
A good place to be, I think.
Someday, I will sell it to someone who will polish it like a diamond in a goat's azz.
(As Phrank so delicately puts it!)
I just cannot do it. It's too cool where it's at to me.
TBH, I am going to do the same with some other razors I have.
About to kiss the Escher

I know what you mean about not knowing how far to go with it. Sometimes it's a little intimidating when you have a blade that is so precious to you that it's hard to decide.
In a similar way I have a few blades that I've got some awesome plans for scales, but could just go with something simple, use good horn or wood, but not get too crazy with it.. just gitterdun I suppose...
You did the perfect thing with that restoration, actually I wonder if the blade ever really looked as good as it does now.
I am certain it looked MUCH better as-new, MikeT.
Still, the ravages of time are real. As I get older I seem to realize they cannot be erased without messing things up sometimes. Scars and dings are part of the history I think.
Just me..
I've only came across a few razors in my searches, that have warrant for a complete restore, or make like new.
Just want them to look like they're still being used, but very well taken cared of. :tu
Yeah, I have a few I think I certainly went too far.
Thankfully, most I just gave-up and honed them up. I was just too lazy to do too much!
How I roll!
