    Default Early J. Elliot 8/8

An early Joseph Elliot 8/8 circa 1820. Restored in a glazed finish. The before pictures show some serious corrosion and pitting. New scales copied from the originals in black horn. Unfortunately one of the large brass domed collars was missing so a reproduction set from Austin Kennedy wae used and the originals saved for future use. The in process pictures are off the 400 grit belt and the bevel set on a 1K.

I used an 8 inch contact wheel on this one and a 6 inch sisal wheel for the final finish. It may have been originally ground on a 10 inch wheel. If you start with a wheel that covers the whole blade face you will lose blade width especially with a blade that has deep pitting like this one.
