An early Joseph Elliot 8/8

An Early Joseph Elliot 8/8 near wedge. First listed in the directories in 1822 the razor likely dates mid 1820's to early 1830's. Considerable pitting and corrosion on this one but it cleaned up nicely. Restored in what is believed to be the original glazed type finish. The scales were copied in black horn and assembled with large brass domed collars and brass pins. The in process pictures are off the 400 grit belt and the bevel set on a 1K hone.

Amazing restoration. Doesn’t look like you had to remove a lot of metal.

I remember a comment from a restorer who said it was almost always worth the effort to restore full and near wedges and you sure seem to validate that comment.

They are not as early, and I don’t think they are a perfect match. I don’t think I bought them together either, and both of them came without scales, so I nestled them in streaked horn. They are a very early restore of mine.
