Paine & Simpson Stub Tail Restoration
The blade took some 600 grit greaseless and then some Emery compound to give a satin finish.
I tried to leave some pits n marks to keep in with the 200 year old look.
The scales were oiled n pressed, sanded and buffed.
I decided not to dye them. They have that lovely effect of transparent green in places.
Originally it was pinned with no collars.
I half pinned this a few times trying to get a nice look.
In the end i stole some silver flowered collars from another razor and re domed them, the drill holes were quite large so i had to use thicker brass rods.
You can see i still need to fine clean the collars.
Pinned tight it centers and sits up straight. I am just about to give it an edge.
W&B 7/8th for a size comparison. It is a hefty chunk of razor..
