Decided to spruce up a Solingen with Copper / Silver & Ox horn.. Beautiful work on the Spine/Tang area..
The photos are a bit naff.. I look forward to honing this one, its quite large.

In general, I like well done horn scales. It appears that the choice of copper as an accent really adds to them, and that blade is sweet. I love the file work on the top of the tang. Pretty impressive when you put it all together.
That cross-hatch file work is outstanding. I've never seen one like it. I like those horn shaped scales with that blade. Unusual for that blade profile but it works well. The copper and NS (lock industry abbreviation for nickel silver) accents are a nice perk.

Thanks guys, The jimping is the nicest to touch or look at that i've seen. This razor works well for me because the scales are made very thin which is a must for finer grinds, according to me.
I honed it up last night and it's always a pleasure to have a large hollow grind on a stone. The grind is perfectly flat also.
This razor was part of a seven day set that i was restoring, my plan was to put them in ivory. The tangs and spines had gold wash which had suffered through time but you can imagine how beautiful it did look.
A few minor parts of cell rot were apparent, this could have happened under my ownership , i don't know. One bit of cell rot had a line about 3mm from the edge upwards, as i pushed on the line the blade basically snapped in half. It was now a 6 and a half day set so i decided to bling one up.
To complete this film like story: I then decided to restore a 7 day set "The Lindum Razor" instead of the Solingen. I restored all 7 blades and pinned them, set them in their original plastic scales. Came to hone them and firstly the shoulders hit the stones , secondly the steel was total crap and wont take an edge. I should take my own advice and establish an edge before restoring. No wonder they were NOS.
