Kudos for Austin providing that. Seems original collars are a must-have.

I haven't posted a SOTD for a while. Partially because I have grown a playoff beard again this year.

I get plenty of real estate to shave but don't have to learn to shave my top lip or chin.

You have any pics of this looking straight on at the toe? Was wondering how thick these were, only stamped Sheffield so I assume pre 1890 but hollow grinding machine was 1893 so they must have been freehanding the hollow grind?

I haven't taken any I don't think but I will and will post some. You're right that the Hexe machine was invented in 1893 or there abouts but that was not the beginning of hollow grinding. It just made it much easier and mainly faster.

I've seen some razors which were more like half hollows from the 1800's, some would even have stamped into the spine things like "Ground on a 4 inch wheel", but I haven't too many attempts at what we would call a full hollow where you're grinding with two different sized wheels. I guess they must have though. I can't imagine they got those paper thin grinds until the Hexe, or maybe I'm wrong there too! Originally Posted by PaulFLUS
