TEMPERD STEEL
This old razor was in a fairly ordinary state. Lots of stains and deep pitting, so I didn't bother trying to remove most of the pitting on this razor. I gave it a clean up then sanding, buffing, polishing and finished off with the satin look. I reckon some age scars look ok on the old razor.
One of the scales was cracked through at the wedge pin so I repaired that, then sanded and buffed them. They have a deep gloss which I'm not sure I like. I may wipe them down lightly with 2000 grit paper to leave a low sheen. Two of the original rosette collars broke during removal. I was going to buy some replicas from Austin but US Postal has suspended service to AUS at the moment.

That is a very nice restoration.
I agree on reducing the polish on the scales. The difference in the finish levels is too much of a contrast.

Loving your restorations, Mick. The scales look amazing but agree with too much of a contrast.

Yes, well done and I like the contrast between blade and scales.

But why was the steel angry?
Sorry im not a comedian :hmmm:
Great job again Tathra .. The scales look nice, if I was gonna satin them I would take 1000 grit paper with a sponge block as backing and perform light pressure circles. What happened with the collars. Have you got a drill press & centering bit?
Thanks
