Interesting hamon info
Fixed Seraphim's link and floppyshoes' quote of that same link - it had a dual "http://http://" at the beginning of the URL. Hope you don't mind Seraphim!

Thanks for the help Byron!
Great work again Russel. Some nice aspects to the new shape.
Might just be the lighting but the hamon seems to run off the edge at the heel so the last 1/8" looks like it missed the quench.
No biggie for a prototype & that bit could be ground away to adjust it.
Just caught my eye. ( awaits slings and arrows from an angry mob )
Behold the magnificent razor smith! :bow
I am really fond of your work!
That.....was amazing. I'm generally not a fan of the japanese looking razors but I do like this one.
The whole blade was at critical temperature and all of it got quenched, so the blade is fully hardened from heel to toe but I guess I was a little too crazy with the clay this time.
The hamon doesn't actually run off the edge, it goes into the bevel and does not affect the cutting edge.
But yes, if it were a commissioned blade I'd have gone a little easier on the clay treatment as well as redone it if there were a discrepancy.
I'd also like to add some info:
Shave?
-WAS AWESOME!!! This blade is in my top three shavers and I can hardly distinguish between them, so it's more of a three way tie for first!
For sale?
-By commission. I have never liked the idea of mass production so I don't intend make them widely available but I am taking requests and discussing design ideas with a few folks already.
Grind?
-Symmetrical 1/4 hollow grind (8" radius if you want exact specs). This is quickly becoming my personal favorite grind.
Compliments.
-Are much appreciated, y'all are really inspiring me. Thank you!
That is just beautiful work! How do you do your clay treatment? Could you get the same or similar results with an edge quench?
